Field Applied Research (FAR) Australia is at the forefront of agricultural field research, development and extension (R,D&E) and is dedicated to advancing sustainable farming practices, improving crop yields and profitability, and enhancing food security. FAR Australia collaborates with farmers, scientists, and industry experts to develop innovative solutions that address the challenges faced by the agricultural sector.
Role Description:
As a Non-Executive Director, you will play an essential role in guiding FAR Australia’s strategic direction, ensuring research initiatives align with the organisation’s mission and goals. Your expertise and insights will help shape the research agenda, and your strategic leadership will drive the organisation’s growth and impact.
Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic guidance and contribute to the development of the organisation's longterm goals and objectives.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements and trends in agricultural research and provide guidance on their integration into FAR Australia’s programs.
• Participate in board meetings, provide constructive input, and assist in making informed
decisions for the organisation's growth and success.
Requirements:
• Strong background in agricultural research, with a focus on sustainable farming practices, crop science, or related fields.
• Proven experience in a strategic leadership role, preferably as a Non-Executive Director or in a similar capacity with an understanding of governance.
• Excellent understanding of agriculture, including the industry’s challenges and opportunities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to contribute to strategic decision-making.
• A passion for sustainability, innovation, and making a positive impact in the agricultural
sector.
Meetings:
The role requires attendance and active participation in four board meetings per year. The 2023 meeting schedule is as follows: 30 March (Melbourne), 28 June (Zoom), 13 August (Mulwala) and 4 November (Bannockburn).
