New appointment increases capacity and capability in the West
Australian based field applied researcher, developer and extension provider announced today the appointment of Jayme Burkett who joins the Field Applied Research (FAR) Australia team as a Senior Agricultural Trials Officer in the Western region.
Confirming the appointment, FAR Australia’s managing director Nick Poole said this latest appointment will enhance the organisation’s research capabilities in the west, as well as provide further resource nationally as our research portfolio continues to grow.
Jayme Burkett completed a Double Major in Agriculture and Science Communication in 2020, before going on to pursue a career in agriculture with her first role being in online communications with the UWA Institute of Agriculture. Jayme was then offered an opportunity in southern WA as a machinery operator. Working on a large scale broadacre cropping property in southern WA, Jayme was able to combine her scientific knowledge with practical experiences to gain an overview of the industry from many different perspectives.
Whilst conducting lab and field research, Jayme has developed a passion for soil science, which underpins all aspects of cropping. These studies have allowed her to cultivate a broader understanding of plant protection and in turn, has led to her interest in all areas surrounding agronomy.
Jayme commenced her employment with FAR Australia on Monday 1st August. Based in Esperance, Jayme will primarily work across FAR Australia’s Esperance and Albany Port Zone Crop Technology Centres where she will be responsible for conducting field-based research programs.
“The team and I are thrilled to welcome Jayme aboard and look forward to working closely with her in delivering quality field applied research for Australian growers,” said Mr Poole.
