FAR Australia boosts team with new ATO appointment
Australian based field applied researcher, developer and extension provider announced today the appointment of Rajdeep Sandhu who joins the Field Applied Research (FAR) Australia team as an Agricultural Trials Officer (ATO) in the Eastern region.
This latest appointment will not only enhance the organisation’s research capabilities in the east, it will also assist with providing further in-field research activities nationally as FAR Australia’s research portfolio continues to develop.
Mr Sandhu completed a Bachelor of Agricultural Science at the Guru Nanak Dev University Punjab in India in 2018, and continued with his studies at the University of Melbourne where he completed a Master of Agricultural science in 2021.
Prior to joining the team at FAR Australia, Mr Sandhu held a position as Research and Trials Agronomist where he managed a number of collaborative research projects, whilst gaining experience in the execution and delivery of controlled research projects and writing technical scientific reports.
Previous work experience on a research project based on evaluation of recombinant inbred lines of lentils provided Rajdeep with a good understanding of plant phenology and genomics, and handling and analysis of data using statistical software.
“I am highly enthusiastic to further progress in the Australian agriculture industry and to be a part of the solution for a more sustainable planet,” says Mr Sandhu. “I am passionate and enthusiastic to contribute to the organisation’s goal and grow within the industry”.
“We are delighted to welcome Rajdeep to the team,” says Nick Poole, FAR Australia’s Managing Director. “As an organisation, we wish to continue to invest surplus into building capacity and capability for the good of the Australian grains industry, and advance young graduates and emerging research agronomists with a passion for R, D and E.”
Rajdeep commenced his employment with FAR Australia on Monday 6th March. Based at the organisation’s head office in Bannockburn. Rajdeep will primarily work across FAR Australia’s eastern states Crop Technology Centres where he will be responsible for conducting field-based research programs.
