The Germplasm Evaluation Network (GEN) is a FAR Australia Industry Innovations initiative that tests crop performance across FAR Australia’s national network of Crop Technology Centres. GEN sites are situated across high and medium rainfall regions of the country and test crop performance plus and minus fungicide. FAR Australia provides the control varieties and breeders enter their chosen lines for evaluation.
Objectives: To evaluate the performance of wheat, barley and canola lines at five FAR Australia Crop Technology Centres, Gnarwarre VIC, Millicent SA, Wallendbeen NSW, Frankland River WA & Hagley TAS.
In these GEN trials FAR Australia provides control varieties and the breeders enter their material under their own variety names or codes. We would like to acknowledge the funding support of AGF, AGT, BASF, Intergrain, KWS, Longreach Plant Breeders Management, RAGT (Seedforce Pty Ltd) and Trigall Australia with their entries made into the 2024 GEN trials network.
This final report covers canopy assessment data, disease assessment data, yield and quality versus FAR control cultivars. The report also carries details of the fungicide program applied and the dates products were applied along with nutrition details.
